Live your dream...
The main driving force behind the GBT Academy is the delivery of meticulous training and the wholistic wellbeing of our students.
The full GBTA course runs on 3.5 weekdays, with students able to chose to attend part time for 1 or 2 days if they wish. Students also have access to pilates studio sessions, and on site physiotherapist visits. In addition to the Academy program, after hours classes may also be taken which include RAD syllabus, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and Performance Groups.
Academic education for GBT Academy students enrolled in the full program is generally delivered via Cairns School of Distance Education. Students attending part-time must make necessary arrangements for leave with their current academic school. We have an official arrangement for student leave to attend the part-time program with Blaxland High School and have individual arrangements with several other primary & high schools.
We also offer a GBTA Associates program. This program is designed for talented students from 11yrs+ and run on 1 week per term and 1 holiday workshop per year. The program has been created to allow students to experience extension & enrichment in a Full-Time training environment to complement their dance studies at their home studio. It also offers the perfect stepping stone into the full-time GBTA program at a later date.
As our intake is capped and entry only offered to suitably dedicated dancers, we are able to offer meticulous elite level training in a condensed and bespoke program which allows students to dedicate 1.5 days per week at home to complete their academic work.
Meticulous Elite-level Training
The boutique GBT Academy course is designed to nurture and prepare our students for placement into full-time finishing schools at around age 15. The program is modelled on the training level and curriculum of such programs to ensure students receive the best possible preparation to allow them to pursue a professional career in dance.
The GBTA program includes core classes in:
Theory (including dance history, music, nutrition, anatomy & makeup)
Audition & Competition preparation
The GBTA program is dedicated to nurture the whole person with a focus on growth mindset, mind & body wellness and self awareness.
All GBTA students receive regular internal assessments and scheduled discussion interviews, which allows students and parents to be updated on progress. Students will also receive regular, ongoing mentoring based on personally developed plans for each students' individual goals along with the opportunity for regular "check ins" on their pastoral well being.
Glenbrook Ballet Theatre’s core focus is passion & possibility. We wish to enable our students to develop not only into dancers but also into disciplined, confident, dedicated and positive individuals. Our aim is to instil a love of dance and a pride of workmanship in our students which shows through in their dancing as well as in their day to day lives.
